45th Australian Winter School
27 September – 4 October 2020 POSTPONED to 2022

Postponement Announcement

The Western Australian Winter School will now be held 25 September – 2 October 2022

Dear fellow dancers

The WA Winter School committee has very reluctantly decided to postpone the 2020 school in WA.  This decision is a result of the travel restrictions that remain in place, limiting both interstate and international travel and impacting on the ability not only of participants but also our teachers and musicians to attend the school, and also the ongoing uncertainty from the COVID-19 virus.  Thank you to all those who showed commitment and registered.  We hope to see you again at a future school.

The committee has explored options for postponement or cancellation and has had meetings and email correspondence with our counterparts in the eastern states.  Thankfully the other Australian Branches haveagreed to a postponement of the WA school till 2022 and we are very grateful to all of them for their consideration of this issue.  We are particularly grateful to Brisbane, who was well advanced in their planning, and who have agreed to allow WA to host the 2022 school.

For your diaries, the revised dates for the WA Winter School will be Sunday 25 September to Sunday 2 October 2022.

We undertook, and it is our intention, to refund all money received for registration.  Our Treasurer will be in touch with regard to refunds. Please bear with us through this process.

Please take care and stay safe in these troubled times.

Best wishes

The RSCDS Western Australia Branch invites dancers to join them at Muresk Institute in the Avon Valley, 96km east of Perth, for the 45th Australian Winter School.

Muresk Institute derives its name from the Dempsters of Muresk in Scotland who settled in this area in the 19th century.

The Institute offers excellent single rooms in recently refurbished accommodation. Dempster House, where all meals are served, is a State Heritage-listed homestead built in 1891. Classes will be held at the Institute or in Northam.

Please join us for a great week of dancing with terrific teachers and musicians.

The town of Northam, seven kilometres away, contains many fine examples of 19th century architecture and is the home of hot air ballooning in Western Australia. In spring this area on the edge of the West Australian wheatbelt is renowned for its wildflowers and birdlife.
